17" on mk2 RS

Hi guys, just a quick one. Would 17x7 rims fit on a mk2 RS? 108 et 40. If so how low profile would the tyres have to be and would I require spacers? ( if so is it a big or expensive job?)

Cheers in advance

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't fit mate unless its arched I have 15x7.5 Simmons on my Rs and I had to get the lowest profile I could find and only just clears still then

They'd sit far too inward to look any good IMO, and I'd put money on them fouling the struts.  For a 7" rim you really want an offset of around ET12.

+40 would be more suited to front wheel drive cars. As mentioned offset should be more around the 10-20et range.
Even then you'd probably need to massage the guards being 7" wide.
Tyres size you'd want a pretty low profile e.g: 195/40/17

I tend to think 17's look way to big on escorts. Cortina's look a bit better with them, but id stick to 15's personally.

40 offset is cosworth. I have 18's that are 42's on my saph.

I have 17x8.5 fitted to a mk 1 so I dont see why you couldn't get 7's on a mk2 with the right offset.

Even still, I only put them on because I got them cheap.

You would be better off, for ease of fitment and performance, with a set of 15's.

Have a look a my project thread for a few pics of my 17's

As said i find 7in wide wheels with +12 offset work perfect... I hav 17x7s with +12 on the front and there fine with 205/40/17 tyres the scrub the inner gaurd a touch on full lock...
