WA - Wanneroo 6th and 7th July

There is a classic race event at Wanneroo racetrack on the weekend of the 6th and 7th. I believe lots of oldies with a lot of old Fords, especially the small variety, competing. Well worth a look. I will be going out o the 7th but not entering this year :-(

Thanks for the heads-up; might try to get out there for a look myself.

I've heard that traffic getting into the raceway can be a nightmare at times, but does that apply to this type of event?

Hope to get down for a look on Sunday. Sadly  not in a running escort  :(
But might be a good excuse to take the boy on a driving lesson in his Lancer we been  rebuilding.
Gotta be a be a more exciting destination than the local car park!!

Flighter, for an event like this, you wont have any problems. The traffic nightmares come with the really big events like the V8's and the once only Festival of Speed. Days like these you just drive straight up to the gate, pay and drive straight in. I might take the RS out for a spin, but I have a new Focus ST that I wouldn't mind going for a blast in. Decisions, decisions...

Not a lot of info out there on the web about this event, not that I can find anyway.  The WA Sporting Car Club web site has nothing apart from the start and end times.  Nothing about what's racing when, or even what spectator entry fees are.  I can't even tell if there's an undercover viewing area.  At least there's a number I can call (hopefully it won't connect me to an overseas call centre).

I am surprised the wascc doesn't have anything on their site. they have been banging on about this being the biggest classic event in WA. it is usually about $10 or so to get in and that includes pits.

Yeah, I'll have to call them as I really want to know when the best time is to come see the classic Fords!

I'll be heading up, my backs gone again so no work on the car at the moment, should be the next best thing...
The old Cortina's stored up for winter so I'll be sure to park the boring family wagon/ parts hauler well out of eye shot
    Looking forward to it.........

    There's a schedule posted now.

    http://www.wascc.com.au/files/TIMETABLE_A5.pdf

It only lists catagories of racing, which I'm not too familiar with, so some guidance as to which the small Fords would possibly be entered in would be appreciated.

On Saturday two groups of Regularity will have practice from 1055 until 1120 then "race" 1 from 1420 until 1440 and race 2 at 1610 until 1650.
On Sunday the regularity will have race 3 from 1105 until 1130 and then race 4 at 1420 until 1440
Racing is from 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday

It was a fun morning so I'm glad I went up.  I've been so busy working on my car in my spare time that I haven't even looked at my photos yet!
