Damn Key Barrel

Hi all. So I was in need of a new key barrel and bought a nos one with keys only to find its Mk1.
The bottom peg is too small to fit the electrical switch at the bottom.
Any chance I can use the actual switch from a mk1?, assuming the loom plug is the same?
Was so excited to have a nice tight ignition barrel again too:-(
