Mk2 alloys, Volante or Globe?

Scrounged together a set of five, curb rash free alloys for my project a while back. One of them has 'Globe wheels' stamped on the inside????? They're all exactly the same to look at otherwise..... Any info?????

If I remember when they first came out, Globe was the brand and Volante was the style.
But it was 1977 when I bought my first Escort new. :-)

The memory fades with time or is that just old age....

Thanks Oss Boss, that's taught me something, been through all my old brochures and didn't find that...
Still not sure why one is stamped, year difference maybe? Not too fussed though, I'll get it machined or use it as the spare.....

From memory the unmarked were FORD supplied ie. Fitted as option.
The Globe marked were sold by globe ,retailers etc.

i believe they are all (should be) Globe marked and like with other styles of globe rims they are actually date stamped. You should find a circle with a year in it and then inbetween the next outer circle there should be dots, representing the month of that manufacture year of the rim. Globe has been doing this on all of their rims from the 70's as per my wifes torana and all of my volantes have the date stamping and globe on them. scrub a little harder and it might all appear...

Edit: i think from memory without going to the inlaws and looking at mine that the date stamping is on the inner of the rim where its bolted to the hub...if that make sense. look within the recess bits to see (most will need to be cleaned to see generally)

My Volantes came directly from RS2000 factory equipped with them, and they are marked Globe too.  It's been a while since I looked at the inside, but BryanS81's comments about the year in the circle etc. sounds right.

Cheers guys, went scrubbing and found the date stamps, the unstamped ones are all 6/77 thats a sheer fluke they came from two different places, the globe stamped one is 12/77. Unmarked ones also have a red and white paint spots, I think you're right Knightime these could have been the factory supplied versions........
