Sayin G'day

Hey all thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Douggie and I just inhereted my grandmothers old mk1 escort 1300 super sedan.
A picture can say 1000 words but I'm not quite allowed yet so we'll leave that for another day.
She's in fairly average condition allround but nothing difficult to fix. Minimal rust (thank god) decent engine with 80,000 original miles, was re painted in 1980something but looks great as always garaged.
I've previously been fiddling around with holden gemini's as I have a love of the 1970's era small cars and on a uni students budget they are quite rewarding little projects.
Joined classicford so I could find like minded people to chat with and help out with those workshop situations that everybody has, hopefully with the possibility of cruises, car shows and the like.
So yeah just wanted to say G'day and see how welcoming classicfords is to other online car forums

    Hi Douggie,

Welcome to the forum. You will find lot's of very smart people on here who know small fords inside out. Although I find it can be a little quiet compared to some other forums. When time and permision allows, put some pic's of the Escort up for us to have a look at and where you are located. Sounds like you have got Lady Luck on your side to start with. Is the Escort a four door auto? What plans do you have for it?

Great to hear another mk1 lives and being passed down to a keen owner.
You wont regret it, they can be one of the funniest cars to drive around!

    Thanks for the warm welcome!
She's a 4 sp which will only need minimal rust work and a couple of interior bits refurbished/replaced. AND i believe I have done enough to post a pic!

That is an awesome mk1 you've got there.
Just give it a wash and polish and away you go I reckon. The thing is cool

Cheers guys I'll check out the rsclub. Hurt my back at work so when the cashflow evens out again I've got my eye on some minilites and am thinking along the lines of a mild pinto setup, perhaps a mazda bp. Just want her as a cruiser to enjoy on weekends nothing too crazy. When I get to a laptop I'll lurk your eskies. Is there many of you in vic that get together for meets or cruises. Went on a couple in the gem back in the day they're great fun. cheers for the feedback on the car I'll have to start a build thread sometime.
