Hi Drew, Yes, using std manifold and adaptor plate. Carb is race prepped and came off my brothers race engine, pulls easy 8000 rpm so will easily handle street duties. My brother came up from bris for a week so got him to bring it and fit it. Bit of messing around to adapt to street with fittings for vacuum and heater hoses but got it sorted. Also finished bling with anodized fittings for braided hoses, had parts in "to do " box for a while. Don't have patience for webers anymore- didn't help with dud spark plug and timing out, plus air leaks when trying to tune. Enjoyed driving the RS for the first time in a while after mods done. Have now got our second car back from daughter so now don't have to do jobs on the RS in such a rush! Your beast is coming along nicely! Cheers, Len

Cheers Len, there was an adapter in the old spares shop around the corner, had a layer of dust on it an inch thick, I always wondered about it..... Fun and games started with the carbs today, got a manifold from a reputable source, put the new studs in that were supplied with it and went to slide it on, no go... had to put it on the press and drill out the stud holes a to get it to fit... With that on I though I'd check the port match, the gasket fits my head ports perfectly so with a bit of blue tack I got it to stick to the manifold and took it off for a look... out by a mile... marked and checked again before it was back to the bench for some more work... didn't take long carbide bits love alloy, textured it up best I could to match the rest as I've heard conflicting stories on whether to polish or not... Drew...

True, theory is that polish job will give u better gas speed but texture will help with fuel droplet dispersal and atomisation. Unfortunately there r differences between manifolds, had to reshape my preprepped gasket going from twins manifold back to Ford one. Are you going to use a throttle cable setup or linkages? Len

The postman dropped off a present today I've just rested them on the manifold for now, working all weekend so hopefully there will be a chance to get stuck into setting them up during the week... The trumpets came supplied but unfortunately will be going in favour of air cleaners. Don't think they'll fit anyway unless I hang them out the bonnet 90's street machine style, lol... Hey Len, will be going with a cable set up just need to make a mount for the cable to attach too near the carbs... Cheers Drew...

Hello all, Bogged down with what seems like a million little jobs to do, fuel lines are in, fuel pump wired with a fancy tachiometric switch the rest of the wiring is just about done. Power was connected today, did a systems check and theres a couple of glitches to sort out but all went pretty well. Got a couple of pics of the 'angel eye' headlights, bit hard to get a shot of but they look pretty good in the flesh, the originals are hanging still hanging around in case I didn't like them but I think they'll stay and the others can get boxed and stashed now... Cheers Drew...

G'day all, Still busy with odd jobs but I'm getting closer every day, been waiting around for a few weeks for my headers to arrive, which they did and are now in the shop getting ceramic coated. Interior is finished all bar a kick panel (for wiring) and the steering wheel cap (wheel alignment first). Radiator, alternator, fan, belts distributor are all in now, headers are next then the brake booster and it should be ready to fire up, hoping to get it started before christmas... Lots of finishing touches getting done too, got some fancy lead separators, some RS stickers for the centre caps, not original I know but they look the part. The mechanics at work were cleaning out and throwing away a heap of various rubber vacumn caps so I went through and capped all of the exposed bolts, even under the car, haha a bit overboard but I have been sitting around waiting for the headers for a while now Cheers Drew...

Alas they don't, thought about filter socks like Len suggested but ended up using air cleaners so the carbs aren't so obvious, they still won't pass WA regulations but 'look' a little more roadworthy now... Cheers Drew...

Couldn't find to many options for filters, lots of stuff for vw's (they're not too worried about complying with state emission laws either, lol) but most were too tall or too wide, not designed for side by side use... The next size up in k&n would have cleared the bonnet bracing by about 5mm and allowed the trumpets about the same to the top of the lid effectively strangling them... I may still look at some filter socks if I ever decide to do any dyno or track days in the future... Cheers Drew...

Nice photos Drew, coming along very nicely. Were Volantes painted or powdercoated? It all looks so clean, I bet you can't wait to drive it :D

Thanks mate, the wheels were sprayed in 2pak satin silver. You bet I'm hanging for a drive, I've had it 20 years on the 11th February so I have a target date to work to now... Cheers Drew...
