Hey Shaul, the standard boosters going back in, need to test fit and wire the engine so leaving it out for now.....
Heres some pics for you Rob.... a fresh set of Volante's....

They don't quite fill the guards like the RS alloys but one of the aims I set myself was to go largely original in appearance. Used a set of hankooks after a good review from a forum member and dug out the original goodyear as a spare although I don't fancy driving on it so I'll through in a steely when I go driving....
Started fitting the carpets today but got the hump with that 'Tru Fit moulded' my foot heaps of trimming and cutting out to do so I'll leave it for another day.... Ordered enough Beta cloth to do the seats this week so they should be getting done soon....
Cheers Drew.....

Hi Drew,
The wheels are looking good. I was told to leave my " moulded " carpets out in the hot sun or use a heat gun to soften the backing so they moulded easier, particularly the section where the trans tunnel meets the hump up to the rear seat. They might have been a snug fit when pressed but once they have got cold, sat in storage and been bundled up for shipment it's not suprpising they are not in good shape when comes time to fit. They always have extra length and width to allow for inconsistencies in the floor so needs to be trimmed. Also good fun locating and making small holes in the carpet to bolt the seats, seatbelts, handbrake lever cover etc back in- black carpet just seems to hide everything!
Cheers,
Len

I did the carpet on my escort 6 months ago and would rather pay someone to do it knowing what I know now. What a hassle. As you say, getting the trans tunnel right and the bolt holes grrrr

Came back to the carpet with a fresh head this morn, agreed what a job, fumbling for bolt and screw holes and carefully trimming a little, then a little more so as not to ruin a couple of hundred bucks of carpet...
Thanks for the tip Len, leaving it out in the sun and using a hairdryer made it easier... All the seatbelts are in it now aswell...
Made up a new strap for the spare wheel, used a coat hanger for the catches, even managed to dig up a yellow plastic coated jobby I can tick the boot off as being all done now, its a small win but a win all the same...
Thats it for another week... Drew....

Carpet in the boot is nice, I did the same,[factory Ghia] however if you are going to the effort to present as delivered it needs a rubber mat, and these untorn are like rocking horse ****. Maybe Peter M can add these to his list?

Nice neat job , Drew. The main disadvantage of me running 15's is that I cant get the mag to sit in the spare wheel well, has to sit flat in the middle of the boot!
Cheers,
Len

G'day all,
Seats arrived today, very pleased, they were already knackered when I got the car 20 odd years ago so it's been along time coming. Glad I shelled out for the correct beta cloth... Spent an hour this arvo fumbling with bolt holes and new carpet so I'll leave the rest for the weekend...
Cheers Drew...

My jealousy is extreme!
Where did you source the beta cloth?

Cheers guys, the trimmer was Duncans mobile trimming, he did the roof lining aswell. The beta cloth came from Aldridge in the UK, they do 'pre-fab'  cover sets for the scheels but mine were so knackered they needed to go to a professional  to re-foam and re-web them so he did it with the material that I bought by the metre...
Looking forward to getting them all in over the weekend... Drew...

G'day all,
Big day today, moved into the new garage, floors not painted yet but having spent a few weeks off the car I couldn't wait to get back into it... Engine went back in, the plans are still for a group 1 style motor with a pair of idf's but I thought I'd get the old one in, started, exhaust done, brakes working and any gremlins sorted out so as not to be playing silly buggers with a freshly built engine.
I now have a new 'to do' list as long as my arm. First things first this floor needs painting and theres a little more to do on the interior before I can tick that off the list for good... Anyway it's back out to the garage for me one small job at a time...
Cheers Drew...

Hi Drew,
Car is coming along nicely. I'm doing the opposite engine wise- Had too much trouble with my DCOe's with tuning and have fitted a 350 Holley. Engine now idles properly, pulls hard and with my new big bore pipes goes more smoothly and sounds more mellow under load. Len

Thanks for the feedback guys, hey JP going with a two pack epoxy, use it at work with tractors and trucks etc, bit worried about how it goes when I start welding, only one way to find out I suppose G'day Len are you using a stock manifold with an adapter? The cars always had webers in its different incarnations, single 38 and 45 dcoe's, the sidedraughts were a big learning curve for me, was never really satisfied so it looks like it'll be back to the books to set up the idf's, I kinda like playing with webers, or maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, haha, either way it'll give me something to do when the car is done...
Finished off the seats today and added a pick of the car with its younger brother...
Cheers Drew....
