Thanks guys,
Len, front seal was nice and dry so left that alone, rear housing seal was a pain, managed to just dismantle the box enough to separate it by a few mm to clean it, cut the gasket on top to fit it and added some sealant... ordering some bits From Peter this week
Dell, theres a guy in Perth that can reweb belts using your original buckles a winders, great if you're after an authentic look...
Spent the morning stripping ang cleaning the diff, farming out the prep to a sandblaster before I spray, I'm better off doing the hours at work to pay for it than spending all day doing it with the drill.... Found the original paint smears under all the grime...
Cheers Drew...

Hello all,
Great to spend another saturday morning on the car, I did 42 hours in three days last weekend setting up for the skyshow on the Perth foreshore, worked through the heat and a shiny pair of Gaz gold coilovers are my reward
Finished painting the rear end, collected new stainless nuts and bolts, black bushes and Gaz shocks. Bought some new King springs, nice product but really wasn't happy with the finish so they got blasted and painted aswell. My paintings getting better, next project I think I'll have a go at doing a complete car.....
Waiting on the diff seal kit before I can fit the brakes etc and get the car rolling again, hopefully next weekend......
I'm thinking about putting the original paint smears on the springs and diff, any opinions on this? The car isn't strictly original but it'd be a nice finishing touch... on the other hand I don't know if I want to 'smudge' paint on my shiny new parts, haha...
Anyway thats it for another saturday.... Cheers Drew....

Hi Drew,
Looking good underneath. What are your Gaz coilovers - are they height adjustable? Ball park price? I have a set of Spax adjustable pressure ones but don't think they are quite doing the job, not much cushioning going on and scrub the inner guards on short bumps, though I might have to roll or pump the guards a bit because of the offset of the wheels.
Cheers,Len

Cheers for the good comments guys,
Got a few hours in this weekend, Had new brake lines cut and flaired then spent a finger blistering morning bending them up using sockets or anything else to get the radius's right. Diff centre, axles and brakes are all back in now.
The front ends been stripped out, sending a few bits out for sandblasting this week and hopefully paint next weekend. The underside of the crossmember was looking a bit bent from being used as a jacking point over the years so I've made and welded a plate over it (excuse the dodgey primer it was the bottom of the can) lol I know its underneath the car and I'm the only one that will see it but what the hell
Put the final order in for a pair of Gaz Gold coilovers, strut tops, control arms, brake disks, nuts, bolts etc. Looking for the parts to rebuild the steering rack at the moment, found some instructions so I'll give it a crack.... Still need to paint under the guards where I couldn't get with the old struts in.
Thats it for another weekend, cheers Drew..............

Hello all, its been a few saturdays since I posted last, progress seems slow but now that I think about it all those odd jobs are starting to add up, the cars back on it's 'feet' and mobile again....

The coilovers finally went in after much swearing, haha.... I found a machine shop open on a perth public holiday and had the stud holes enlarged, flange trimmed down and 3mm taken off the disc diameter, much to my delight it was a three hour turn around and everything was moving freely and as it should be by the end of the day.....

The fuel tank has been painted, fitted and plumbed as far as the pump and regulator in the engine bay. The rear bumper was also painted and fitted for the fifth time (long story)..... New brake lines have been made and fitted, that was a task in itself, hours of thumb bruising bending and tweaking but worth it in the end.

I found a good zinc plater and have had all the nuts, bolts and hardware done for the car, the door strikers an example, even had the little clips for the bonnet cable done... I did wonder why I'd gone so far when doing up the hangers for the fuel tank, no ones ever going to see them again, but I'm finally happy with it after almost twenty years of ownership....

Been ticking off heaps of other little jobs aswell, the battery and isolator is wired, door and boot seals are in and I've been sorting the last of my interior trim.
We're having a new garage built over the next couple of months so I'll wait until thats done before I get the trimmer around to do the roof lining.
In the meantime the original engines going back in so that I can finish the wiring and do a test fire to hopefully eliminate any gremlins before the new one is built.
The original volantes are going in next week for a re-furb and tyres aswell....
Phew!!!! I have been busy
Cheers Drew...........

Hi Drew,
Starting to look the goods... front struts are pretty schmick. You running ac? Is that why your engine bay wiring comes in at the bottom of the firewall instead of the usual bloody great grommet at the top? Cheers, Len

G'day Len, yeah the cars got a/c, the wiring should still run through the top but I changed it to run down the chassis rail, pretty easy job, I only had to lengthen a couple of wires, the rest fit no worries. Welded in some holding tabs to keep to keep it all tidy while I was doing the body.....
Cheers Drew

Started on the interior last weekend, the dashtop, pedals dash, instrument stalks etc are in as too factory a/c has been, plumbed and wired. Had the roof lining done in mooncrater material today, very happy with the result... looking forward to doing the screens and the rest of the interior over the weekend.....

Looking good Drew, did you reserve the fun of installing the roof lining for yourself?? My first repro lining was a disaster- luckily I kept the original and got a local old-school trimmer to remake mine in marine vinyl- dove grey.
