Yeah Deano, last one left in Perth and not far from home. Alas I think its days are numbered, the land there is worth a bomb nowadays and from what I hear the grandkids don't have much of an appetite to keep it running.

Funny story, as you leave your headlights sweep the nearby swamp. Theres an old stump that looks remarkably like a figure standing there. Story goes, back in the day, a young guy had taken his girlfriend there in his panelvan and when her old man found out thats where he buried him...
I was told that by a girlfriends father upon picking her up one night, needless to say we just watched the movie on that occasion

I like hearing of urban legend ghost stories, we have a few stories here in Adel of ghosts hitching rides home n stuff. Maybe start an urban ghost thread on here lol.
Sad about the drive-in theatres, not sure if any are left here in Adel, tho we used to have 5 or 6 scattered about. Beta/ VHS movies started the demise I reckon..

Funny its the way of the world.
My wife is Canadian so when we go back to visit family in Toronto we sometimes go to the drive-in for a night out.
They are packed too.

I reckon its the land value that prohibits it, cause I reckon they would still be popular. Mind you with some of the clowns around these days I'm not too sure it would be a good family outing?

Good Aussie song about drive-in adventure. Have a listen.

"I can finally say its finished. I can't think of anything more I want to do to it except drive it."
Famous last words, that was until I couldn't drive it anymore
No more that a couple of days after that statement the starter motor gave it up, fair play I have no idea how old it is, with the compression of the new engine and the constant stop start of the tuning process it shouldn't have been a surprise.
So I went on the hunt, read some reviews and spoke to some people and ended up with one of these. That and its shiny and overkill, whats not to like?

At 1.4kw its got almost twice the grunt of the original and with the gear reduction uses alot less current.
Its also 2kgs lighter and more compact, oh, did I mention its shiny too...

It now kicks over first go hot or cold and is serviceable in the future if need be. All in all I'm very happy with it, we'll just call it an early anniversary present

Yes have been putting them on all my builds, wouldn't go back to the old version. Bit of an analogy is generator vs alternator.

Has Marty got an Alli Express version, or are they all from UK?

Best sources for one?

John McCallum (Johns Capris) modified a falcon (Bosch) one for my Capri. The Escort ones I have sourced locally. If you want I can plough through my hardcopy files. The last one I bought was through an auto elec in Sydney.
Mebee give Tony Buttigieg a try?

Hey Deano I got mine from eBay UK but think it came from Taiwan. Think I fitted one to the yellow load lugger.. They do them to suit zetec to escort as well.
Price was about $150 , Cheap but not sure how long they last

If you guys want anything from Burton let me know. A mate regularly gets deliveries in. And he just forwards my stuff on.
Amongst the usual assortment of items, I have gotten both of my YB starters from them.

Sorry about the delay its been a madhouse around here.
I went with Burton because I needed a few other bits aswell. You can get them a bit cheaper through Cambridge motorsport although I'm not sure what they're postage is like
My engine builder thoroughly recommended these ones, he uses them on his race cars and has never had a problem. You can get the CAE ones locally but he'd had a drama with one and wasn't given much help or options to repair it.

I haven't been posting stuff with my build but since were talking starter motors hows this.
OEM motor won't foul. So now I've had to remove the sump (again) and am getting it (cut and shut) to clear the starter.

Pain in the arse cause G19 make a YB winged sump and has this top side wing about 30mm lower to clear any starter. But he's a turd to deal with and you have send your 2WD sump to the UK First world problems I think they say!

And amongst the endless number of mods which are required at every turn, the sump is now stepped and back on.

I think I asked ages ago if anyone was interested in another Escort build. Not sure what the general thought was?
This tarmac car is getting closer to completion, but I refrain from getting too excited until the day I take it for a spin. Which in itself will be interesting as I cannot do this (legally) on the road.

Nicely done Mark, wow I could look at alloy welding all day, it is pretty.
Can't have enough build threads on here I reckon, go for it!

Yeah, trying to replicate the ' stack of dimes ' technique takes a while. I'm still learning the hard way, watch vids then try to copy on a chunk of ally, Tig is so much more involved than MIG and I give this welders much respect even on stainless, but stainless is easier than ally to melt together.

Come on Mark, get the thread happening, and if there's skills you can show us, all the better 👍
