Type 9 from ebay

Howdy,

I am having serious thoughts about buying one of these units from ebay:
http://www.ebay.com.au/it...38.l2649#ht_623wt_1397
Freight seems reasonable as well as a 1 yr warranty...
My question is will this box be a simple install to my 79 2.0l, I am aware of moving the shifter hole back 2", but from what I've read it looks simple. Existing bellhousing will work fine? Anything else I need to know before doing this?

Also if anyone has a good condition box for a better price let me know, especially around Canberra region +3hrs.

Cheers,

Rob

In my opinion this is a reasonable buy.  I have brought a number of these in from the UK and although the landed price to Adelaide in quite abit cheaper you run the risk of the box's condition.  The warranty/checks are worth the money most likely.

You need the RS2000 bellhousing to make it fit but others can confirm (Eurospeed sell these also).  Other than that fairly straightforward.  There are a few How To guides around the forums (def one on Turbosport).

    Hope that helps.

Checked out a few guides and they all seems different, I guess I'll just have to get it and see how we go...

    Bought this one last night:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/it...9.l2649#ht_5884wt_1139

    Seems like a good bit of kit, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the courier works;
I used courierquotes.com.au pligged the box dimensions and weight in, everyone was $140 from QLD to south NSW except for "couriers please" which was $40...

    Hope it works!

    Cheers,

Gearbox arrived and looks the goods, everything very fresh and tidy on it... Confirmed lengths of shafts and all, should all be fine thought the output spline sits in the housing about 5mm more than the standard.

Next step is installing, reading the old site MartyMexico posted regarding using RHS tubing on the original mount... I need to know if you used the existing crossmember mount... Any other advice would be tops as this looks like the way I will go.

Ill grab some pics during the build in a couple of weeks and I'm sure I'll be on here with plenty more questions.

    Cheers,

I too would like one for my MK 1 Cortina  and am unsure how its all gonna fit in,i was under the impression that t9 would bolt straight in a standard  4 speed bell housing  and a modified g/b support bracket to be fabricated a new speedo cable might be needed (can be bought from flex drive).Apparently there not a easy box to get used to they have their problems 2nd to 3rd not a smooth transion its something to do with the type of g/b oil used,  i feel i need to do more research especailly for a MK1 cortina fitting.as mine is a pinto powered cortina
