Newbie introduction

G'day all, just discovered the site, I'm not really the computer type but I can lift heavy things
Hope to learn and share some new tricks on here.....
Every Escorts got a story to tell and here's ours....
My first car was a 1980 four door RS2000, I was 17 years old and it was 16, fast forward to now, I still have it and have done for a bit over 17 years so statistically we've been together for the majority of both our lives. The old man lent me the money on the condition that at the first sign of trouble it would be sold. Well after half an hour of owning it we saw our first set of traffic lights and though 'lets see how fast we can go' it was in third gear when we also saw our first speed camera! Damn it! A deal was struck with mum, and the old owner was called to pass on the fine, I hadn't even had time to transfer it. He thought it was the funniest thing ever. I drove it to tafe, work and even pashed my first girly in it. Things got wild for a while, the bottom end was balanced and matched, a big valve, ported head and a set of side draught webbers were fitted. It was no longer an every day car and sat in dad's garage for a few years after I found a ultra low mileage (26k) TD cortina. After showing that for a couple of years I longed to hear the bark of a well sorted pinto again. I'm two years into the build now, collecting parts from all over the world and almost ready for paint. In the words of the late Big Kev "I'm exited!!!!!"
Cheers Drew.............

This it it after the second (faster) rebuild. Spent the last couple of years doing a 'third time lucky' rebuild. Cage, sidedraughts are gone, this time.
I've been collecting parts for it, interior was first, mainly new old stock or A1 original bits. Next was lighting, suspension,  just finished exterior, bumper, mirrors, trim etc, moving onto the engine and bay now.
Trying to 'build it down' so that when its painted everything will be ready to put back in. I'll get my spare room back too
Having fun doing it, driving all over the countryside getting odd bits, saving the RS alloys but got a set of 5 volante's and caps for it, Am/Fm radio, then a factory tint glass set, clock and sunvisor with the mirror from a Ghia.
I'm hoping to have it done in 12 months, but you always double the statistics when building a car so lets call it 2 years, haha no hurry............
