Steering rack help

Hey lads,

I need some help with rebuilding a mk2 escort steering rack. I've just bought one of the heavy duty 2.4 turn kits from smcka.

The issue seems to be with  the bronze bush. It's very tight on the steering shaft even after a good clean up. So whats stopping the bush from gripping to the shaft instead of the steering housing? on a sharp left handed turn the bush is likely to come out of the housing and start to float around!? then the shaft would no longer be centrally located on the passenger side.

picture of the offending bush can be seen here:

On a less important side note, does anyone know if drilling and inserting pins to hold the tie rods on still the best way to do it? there's no holes on the shaft, which isnt a problem, it just makes me wonder if its supposed to be done differently.

Cheers, Mark
