Duratec on carbs

Does anyone know if u need the webers with the 5th progression hole if fitted to a duratec?

    My understanding is that cylinder heads with a non centred spark plug (pinto, xflow etc) need Italian webers.
    For cylinder heads with centred plugs (duratec zetec etc) use the new spanish webers.

    What's the reason for putting stone age tech on a modern engine ? Class requirements?
