Ford Capri 1600 GT Replica Shannons Melb Auction

Hi All, there is a Capri listed for upcoming Shannons Auction. (I am not associated to the car, just saw it in there website).
I wonder what price this one will sell for, seeing the last 4 cylinder Capri at Shannons sold for $18k.
Anybody want to start a guessing game of final sale price?

Why would you do a replica 1600GT?
It's an August 1969 Deluxe model fitted with a November 1980 Escort 1600 engine, not very original.
Though it looks nice, I shouldn't think it would go for any more than $10-12k due to its non-originality!

I thought that the one that sold for 18 would fetch about 12 as it wasnt original either. Its getting hard to pick what these will sell for.
I have a capri shell and parts so its looking like that will be my next project. (After the mk1 esky).

    Hello All,
After reading your comments, I am starting to get a little more optimistic that I might nearly cover my costs with my two 1600s. I am not yet confident enough though to tell the household financial controller as they have been written off as bad debts many years ago. So, you never know!
For those Capri tragics I have started another blog for 2013 at:

Guiding range is now set at 14000 to 18000. And why not, they sold the last one for 18.
The last one while not too original was well built and a credit to its restorer.

Ok, I had a good look at this 'impersonator' today and took a few photo's. Though it looks very neat and tidy, it's not a 1600GT and has a few items missing or not right, namely the rostyle centre caps (missing), the original steering wheel (it's fitted with an aftermarket 'sports' steering wheel), no console, 1600 GT instrument cluster is covered in aluminium, rear shelf recovered with no flow through holes, etc.
It looks quite good though some marks (finger prints on the bonnet for one) let the paint work down a little, the body looks pretty straight on both sides, wide Rostyles with 195/70x13 tyres, recovered dash and instrument panels,  very nice original low back black seats front and back, carpet very good, parcel shelf fitted, 31125 on the odometer, chassis number is CK14JG56449 which makes it an August 1969 build. As it's not an original 1600GT, I'd say it probably worth around $10-12k mark.

Sorry, also forgot to mention the non original rear view door mirrors and the exposed holes showing where the original bullet mirrors were!

I havent seen the car, but going of the comments I have heard, and there seems to be a big following of Capris in Vic, I will be very bold and say it will sell for $15,500.
Suppose we will find out after Saturday, anybody heading to the auction?
I am very interested in the final sale price as my 1600 Mk1 may be on the market very shortly.

That's great news for all Capri owners.
Looks like my 1600 will be on the market shortly. I wonder what fees Shannons charge?

Thanks for the news.An addition,Ford Motors has announced intends to start production of a 2-liter, four-cylinder motor at its facility in Brook Park, Ohio. That size Ford engine was formerly only produced in Valencia, Spain, according to the Associated Press. The move will produce up to 750 jobs in Ohio, according to an unnamed representative of the car maker. You can look to buy a that works for your situation.

I always thought you sold too cheap. That was a very nice unit. Hope the new owner is looking after it.

Yeah, me to Ron. I must send them an email and see how she's going.

Hopefully these prices are a sign of improvement in the economy! (-:
