Cam and carbs very similar to mine

I've forgotten what I've got so will open up carbs tonight and list specs

I have a bunch of jets and idles etc if you want to keep playing

Getting the idles right is very important.

Hey Avon.
Did you see your spoiler??

Thanks that would be good.
Are those jets on loan?

I took my 34mm chokes out and put the 30's back in and runs so much better but i really want the 34's back in. Seems a shame to do so much porting and then choke it down. I understand the vac and velocity thing i just would like the extra breathing.

Hope the move went ok.

Righto here they are

Idles 40f9
Pump bleed 50
Pump squirts 40
Mains 130
Air 170
Emulsions F16

And on 33mm chokes.  Gets asthma after about 5500 rpm but great torque before then.

I'll have a sift through jets collection and see what I've got.  Forgot to take spares to dyno tune and so had to buy replacements at full workshop price.  Yewouch.

Yes move went well thanks.  Now have garage!

Hey Avon.
I need a garage that is not our garage - but i have to build it :-( $$$
Wow - 33mm chockes. I think i have to get new leads - go over my cam timing again. Sort out my balancing once and for all coz it ran on my 34's like a pig. back to 30's and it not too bad.
Went for a run on sunday and still spits out the carbs a bit - chronic out the exhaust on decel and did a strange thing on the freeway. When i went to exit the revs stayed up - which would normally indicate lean but gauge still says off the scale rich. And it stayed like it for a while.
I dunno.
Gearbox has to come out now to see where oil is coming from. :-(

Thanks fo rthe info - my idles are definitely too big!

Are you changing your main jet when you change your chokes?  You should be.  If your not then what you're doing is indicating it is too lean with the larger choke, as when they are fitted there is less signal on the main jet and it needs to be bigger.

You really need to take it to a dyno with someone that knows webers and do it properly.

Hey wozzah.
yeah i realise all that  - thanks.
The carbies had 30mm when i inherited them and used them for many years.
With the new rebuild i went up to 34's and rejetted but it ran like a pig. so i went back to the 30's just to see where my problems lie (that it is or isn't the choke size) i did rejet for this. the large idles are making it difficult for me at the mo.
I just don't want to run out and buy more wrong sized ones.
when it's running ok - i will retry the 34's
I am still a little convinced i am running on 3 cyl and i have to fugure out why.
Also with all the spitting out the carby i have to check my cam timing or ignition timing
or if it is mixture related.

Darren I have 4 each of

130 mains
155 airs
45F6 idles

You're welcome to try them.

I faffed around for ages with poor results.  Went to a bad dyno and they made it worse.  Went to a good Dyno and they did it properly.

Hey Avon.
Thanks - i'd like to try the idles and see how much difference it makes. all mine are on the rich end.
I want to do a bit myself before i hand it over to a dyno. I like to learn.
I'll get in touch when i have sorted out the oil leak - that will be a few weeks to a month i would think.

who did you use for the dyno - the good one?
