Kent -> Pinto - Alternators?

Hey guys,

well the scort is officially back on the road! ANd now my great suspension and tyres make the ol 1.6ltr seem even more sluggish than before

So here goes with the next phase - going Pinto!

I've already got a starter motor of a 2ltr sitting around, but what about alternators? I know there were 4 different units from factory (differing amp outputs), but are they all usable on both engines?

If there are physical differences, can you get away with just changing the front pulley?

With thanks

Nick

    You shoyuld try to get someones old engine that is comeplete with all the ancilleries like altenator, dizzy etc as it'll make this a lot cheaper and easier overall.

    the Manual lists a Lucas one for 1.6 and a Bosch for the 2.0 but that's all I know.

    Cheers,

    Hi Matt,

    yeah the gregory's manual I have doesn't make any distinction either, apart from bosch and lucas types...

    PIcking a complete engine with accessories would be the way to go, but the WA market is really slim I'm afraid. A whole setup out of a transit van did go a while ago on gumtree... it went very quickly - and I didn't have the bank to even try! :/
