Different Diff thread types. Metric/Imperial

Hey guys, I've got a Diff that had a 3.77 in it. I've been given some metric thread bolts for the R31 disc kit that bolt onto the flange however I've found they don't wind in. It appears they're a different thread. Were there different types of diffs, both metric and imperial in Oz? What's the thread used on this flange?

Cheers

There are different types. The later have a rounder flange on the end and the earlier have a square end.
