Mk2 cortina newby need some advice

I recently bought a mk2 cortina and am wondering what are the best options to give it an escort like feel suspension wise. I've not had much experience with cortinas so wanna know people's setups.

Also are engine/gearbox mounts fairly similar? Would like to fit a 2ltr and want to know the work needed for this conversion.

Any general help would e appreciated

Thanks

In my view ('cause I've owned several of both including Lotus / twincam variants of both), the Cortina is a better handling car less prone to swapping ends, (courtesy of the longer wheelbase), but the Escort is a better steering car (courtesy of the rack and pinion steering).

The Cortina's old steering box system is, after all, pre-war in design.

So maybe fitting one of those rack and pinion conversions to the Corty might give the best of both worlds....? I've never done that conversion.

I'm sure there's other views out there

Many things you can do to the front end to improve the handling. Swapping the original rubber suspension bushes to nothalene or similar is a must and will make a huge difference. Fit some lowered and uprated springs, same diameter as 2 litre escort, and thicker and adj sway bars are available. Adj strut tops are same as large diameter escort ones. I've also fitted a strut brace as there is a lot of movement in the shell although not really necessary for handling. Ultimate upgrade is to r&p from escort however you are looking at a lot of head scratching and an empty wallet to do so.
