Deceleration valve

Hey guys, can these decel valves on the inlet manifold be done away with?

Cheers

Probably, but it's there to prevent an excessively lean mixture on decceleration.

The factory put them on there to prevent the mixture becoming too lean during deceleration from the perspective of improving exhaust emissions.  Whether that means the mixture would be otherwise too lean and hence damaging to the engine is debatable.  Personally, I suspect not, but I haven't done any measurements on a dyno or with an air fuel meter to confirm that.

It was put there to reduce exhaust emissions and nothing else. On decel, as far as engine is concerned it makes no difference at all, in fact a complete fuel cut would be ideal just not possible with most carbs.

Yes, I meant from an emissions point of view.
