Twin Cam identification

Hi, had a look around the forum, cant see this info, hope there is the knowledge here.

I'm looking at a Twin Cam roller (to start a resto) and dont know how to tell from the numbers or chassis if it is a genuine TC. I know they have flared arches, 6 dial dash etc, what else should I look for.

Thanks.

Engine brace on 70' models only.
Gear stick hole is moved and welded on.
Gear box mount re-enforcing plate spot weld to floor inside.

Thanks for the info, very handy, picking up my project this arvo. Found a 1970 Twin Cam with just about everything except engine and box, has a few new panels, badges, dash etc etc they were collecting to do the resto. Will restore it as a road car, now on the lookout for engine, gearbox, any out there ?

Spoke to a local lotus specialist and quoted @ $12k for recon engine, 7 for the engine, 5 for the recon. Is this in the ballpark ?

    Thanks again

Good luck with the project.  Be careful which "expert" you take it to.  There are only a hand full of people in the country I would consider giving a Lotus build to.

7 is too much for a second hand assembled twin cam.

There is no way you can quote a Twin cam rebuild, even when it's apart on the bench in front of you.

12 is in the ball park but in the real world it's 4 to buy one and 8 to build it into something that's decent.
