Location of Fuel Filter on Mk2 Escort

Hi Guys,
I have a Ford Escort MK2 with a 2 Litre Pinto and a Weber Carby, was just wondering what the preferred location of the fuel filter is, i have positioned mine between the fuel line and fuel pump. I have seen photos of other Pinto's with the fuel filter located between the fuel pump and the carby.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

    Thanks for thr replies.
Wouldnt the point of putting the fuel filter before the fuel pump to prevent crap getting in the fuel pump? Would it cause any issues to have the filter connect this way?

    Thanks,
    Yannick
