Diff check prior to install

Hi guys, is there a quick way to find out if a second hand diff is going to be good prior to putting it in & with out pulling it apart too much?

Cheers

Hi Glenn, yes it is an English diff, I got one with 3.54 gears, out of an Auto and the car had only done 90K so it should be ok but just want to make sure.
By pulling the center out does that mean you have to pull the axles out first? I have never pulled one apart before, hence the questions.
    Thanks

The other thing is, once you have pulled the center out, what do you use as a gasket?

    Hi Wayne,

Get the gasket from here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAVY-DUTY-FORD-ENGLISH-DIFF-AXLE-GASKET-Escort-Mexico-RS-2000-Lotus-Cortina-/390461168509?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae94c9b7d

or you can just use a heap of sealant or even both.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Thanks Matt, I will have a look into it.
I might end up just using the Gasket sealant due to not wanting to wait for it.
    Thanks again.
