Hi yeah I know it's not one of the numbers just surprised it's a higher build number which makes me wonder. I'm not really interested in one of the specials per say but it would be nice. How can its build number be higher though? And it's definitely not a restamp. Also look at the number it's 100 past the Capri specials so what does that say. It is generally perfect rust wise but was fire bombed because one owner wouldn't sell it. Then collected through unpaid debt and I bought it. A pillar and roof are affected as well as front guard but I will fix it and have Dport motor and everything to fix it. Won't happen quickly but it's now part of the collection and learning every step of the way. They leant me there car trailer to remove and I sold them a job on top of that worth more than the car. So win win to all and another Capri sitting in a garage not rusting away. Will start s fresh thread soon about all my experiences but for now I'm rapt. Keith

Hi Wiggy, congrats on the capri purchase. I will be keen to follow your progress. As far as the numbers go here is what I know. CK17ME****** Just looking at the relevant details, the ME means that the bodyshell was assembled in 1972 august and the following number is the assembly line sequence number which included other models. There was a heap of these shells assembled in august and they spent the final months finishing them off. This is evidenced by the finish date on the vin plate, in my case its 11/72. Whats yours? There were 22 manual v6 assembled in november and there is no way of knowing what order they rolled out the door from the above vin.

Hi Ron, John and all, have we got an update list of our "SECRET ELEVEN" (or 65 165HP V6's as John suggests), that have been found ?...............I think I was told by someone here (Ron?) over a year-2 years ago that mine was "number 7" with 4 still un-accounted for, if "eleven" is correct ............ BTW......I'm not a detective's shoe-lace, and if the Engine number prefix "CK17MExxxxx" is the pre-cursor designating the LIMITED "D" Port 165HP of 11 or 65, then how is it that in all the years this Club/Forum has existed, not one Member in this Club/Forum, has "piped-up" that his GTV6 has an eng/no prefix of "CK17MExxxx", or a 165 HP Decal, other than the 7 odd we know about that also all have the "yellow/black" 165HP decal?........65 is greater than 11, yet only 7 odd are known of............what have I missed ? cheers Bernie

Bernie, there were only 11 'Specials' with the 165HP engines built and all were prefixed with CK17MExxxxx. The M means 1972 and the E means August. It just so happens that there were a total of 65 CK17MExxxxx GT/V6 MANUAL Capris built in August, 1972, BUT, only 11 were fitted with the 165HP engines, etc. I hope that this clears it up for you. This means of course that we have found or identified, 7 out of the total of 11 'Specials'. Terry

Hi all answer to Ron I have an 11 month 1972 and this new one is 10 month 72 with ck17me340**p vin plate. Received my ford verification letter for this new one the other day. I am not really collecting at the moment but protecting( that's what I tell the wife) any shells I can. Then when I find reasonable ways to restore I will. I have seven now 1 Perana 3x v6 and 3x 1.600 cars of which two of the 1600 are either cut up or as we all might have seen open the door and watch the A pillar come with it. All can be fixed but only with the right panels and expertise. Couple of answers I really want to know when were th extra pieces between the guard and the A pillar added these protect the Apillar more than previous models and would be hard to get. Also were the special Capri Dport motors in these cars running with our motor code or the English motor code? I ask this as I have this D port motor but no way of knowing its history. Finally could you post the list of engine numbers separate to the cars (not wanting people to copy but you may have a motor from these cars but would have no idea) as would like to check what I've got. You can pm me as all can or call me if you wish? Just love the information as you can imagine the Perana is even harder on info which doesn't impress the motor registry. Keith
