Wow, looking great Ron, I have some 14" Superlites to put on my 3000E which also has a vinyl roof. IIRC the rostyles you seek are the ones with the 4 long thin slots they were the ones fitted to a simmilar speced special as yours

Thanks guys, I have some nice clear pics coming so will post up soon. There is no stripes yet because i had a technical problem with the first set. As far as the rest of the car goes everything seems to be bedding in nicely, all except the back axle. It howls like a 12 year old thats just been told they are not having that new mobile phone. So all new bearings and adjustment me thinks. Was out cruising the other day and in the space of about half an hour 4 different police patrols checked me out, one even aggressively driving up and tailgating me. Not pulled up so grey hair is good for something Anyway then i got nervous so went home and parked it.

I noticed that driving quickly right around the roundabout that the diff howling stopped. To me that meant that as the load came off the inside wheel bearing it went quiet so I pulled the axle out and sure enough the wheel bearing is shot. More bearings are on the way so hopefully this will turn out to be an easy fix. Am quite proud of myself for finaly uploading pics all by myself. Im finaly getting right into the computer age.

Well after much mucking about I finaly replaced the axle with new wheel bearing installed. I had to do it twice as the first time the wrong collar was supplied which then fouled on the axle casing. And what a difference. Now I can actualy hear everything else thats going on, that nice v6 hum, tappet noise, metal timing gear whine and the roller rockers being high tensile aluminium, have a definite ringing sound. Pretty much everything on this engine has been modified and it sure has a healthy dose of torque and power. Next Im going to change the rack from the 2.6 job thats in it for the standard 3.3. I just dont think the 2.6 is necessary for road use even thru your favourite set of twisties. Makes me wonder what the previous owner was doing. On another note Ive been running 95ron with the timing set at 13dbtdc. and this is only pinging briefly when in third gear at low revs and high throttle otherwise all fine so next will be to change to 98ron and further tuning, cheers for now.

Ron If you are moving that rack on I would be interested (would go nicely in the new car). Also if you need a standard rack let me know as we have a few sitting around.

Hi capri people. Ive been preoccupied lately getting the cortina registered. Now its done the capri front end is next. I thought that the wheel bearings were shot but the movement is happening when the bottom of the shocker insert is moving inside the strut. Is the nut at the top of the strut loose or is there something that needs to be done to hold the bottom of the shocker insert steady? There is a clunk when turning sharply at parking speeds.

Good to see you haven't forgotten about it Ron. I must I was Impressed with your resto job on it... its a credit to you. I have a similar clunk in 1 of my capris but have found it to be the spring binding in the cup. as i turn the wheel the top stays in place but the bottom rotates and the noise is the spring popping back to its netural position.. It only happens when parking as on the road the im not turn the wheels as sharply as when parking.. I haven't found a way to fix this yet.. Im going to head up to Kendron this year in the RS31...Will you attending? cheers Owen
