Decode chassis number please.

I have worked out what the first 6 digits mean, but cannot decode the next 5 numbers and the last letter.
The last few digits are: 29858 A.
Anyone?

    Oops .. it's a MK2 Escort.
    Do those numbers and letter mean anything at all... or is it the first 6 digits that matters??

    Pretty sure they are nothing more than the build number. All the important stuff on a MK2 is before that e.g CK42WL

    The only digit that i believe 'means' anything is the letter on the end. I am 99% sure that a number ending in the letter 'R' indicates a factory 2 litre shell which means it will have the step in the radiator support panel for the 2 litre radiator.
