YB hotspots and heater hose

Hi all,

I've got the yb in and running, but I'm concerned that I might be getting hotspots in the head since the engine smells warm (after a month of running, so it's not paint drying ).

The temp gauge in my thermostat housing only shows 80-90 deg C same as the one at the back of the head.

I have both the heater hoses blocked off at the moment - could that be causing a hot spot?

Water pump is 2wd cossie, thermo housing is modified pinto (not yb), turbo water flow is from thermo housing to bottom rad tank.

Any ideas, or do they always smell hot?

Also dumps a bit of coolant from the rad cap when I turn it off after a decent drive. Rad cap is new and I have tried 2 different ones.

No coolant in the oil of vice versa.

Any ideas welcome.

Ash

did you bleed the water system? you may have an air lock.. which is fairly common with the cossies... if you are still having an issue after bleeding the water system try a swirl pot.. otherewise without seeing/smelling its a bit hard to tell?

Where do you bleed it from? I know with the family 2 pulsar/Astra engine you loosen the temp sender and wait for coolant to come out, but where do you bleed a cossie from?
