A couple of queries for the pinto!

Hi guys,

Putting the motor back together gradually and have a few queries -

- Oil relief valve: is this something that is replaced or reconditioned? Not having much luck with getting it at auto one and am taking extra precautions.
- Timing belt tensioner: should i replace this when i do my timing belt, or is it commonplace to reuse?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Tim

I would never use a new belt and an old tensioner, just get a timing belt kit and it will come with the belt, seals and tensioner.  Cheap insurance if you ask me

Hey guys cheers for the quick responses. I will get myself a fresh tensioner.

Anyone know about this relief valve too?

Relief valve is within the oil pump housing - are you replacing the oil pump?

    Hi James,

No I hadn't planned on changing the oil pump... Was going to take the relief valve out and wash it in solvent as recommended in the workshop manual?
