mk2 1.6 to 2.0

hi just finished a conversion from 1.6 to 2.0 in my mk2 just wondering if someone could provide a list of what needs to be changed before i run into any other troubles. my main troubles are with the starter motor and gearbox, im jst wondering ive fitted the 1.6 flywheel clutch and gearbox onto 2.0 and seemed to bolt up ok, but do i need to change this to 2.0, because my starter motor doesnt seem to grab the flywheel?? is the starter motor to long/short, or flywheel to small?? also engine mounts can 1.6 mounts be used??  help would be appreciated

    i would say you need the 2.0 l clutch flywheel , and that spacer that goes under the clutch fork

    you need 2 litre / pinto mounts mate, also look at a 2l radiator and even consider (what i did) getting a 2l one with a stuffed core and good tanks, taking it to a radiator place and getting 3 cores put in, works a treat. You can either make the clutch for spacer or use a 2l one, you can prob find the dimensions on the net, not much to it. 4 speed boxes 1600/2l are the same bar that spacer. make sure u correctly and clearly label all your wires

    actually I'm not sure as it's been so long since I've done one, but I think u need 2l eng mounts. also from what i remember the 2l exhaust is on the other side, but u can prob salvage the rear half of the 1600 exhaust and adapt it if need be

    im doing this conversion at the moment, the engine mounts look the same to me as ive pulled everything out of a 2lt mk2 and the 1.6 mk2 side by side. the exhaust is opposite side, everything else ''looks'' like it will bolt up, however im swapping box an 2lt in one go over so not sure about bolting 1.6 to 2.0. when measure it looks like even the gearstick will line back up in the original hole, and to me the gearboxes look the same on the outside anyway. ill let you know over the weekend about the mounts because im trying the 1.6 ones first. The only issue ive had is the radiator is to tall so need to cut out the radiator support and reweld an angle in there. Also side by side the radiators look the same unless the one in my 4dr 1.6 has been upgraded to a 2lt radiator? not to sure. cheers

    yep 2l radiator is definitely bigger, you should be able to get away without welding

    I have to cut out the bottom section to allow the radiator to sit lower now it sits inside the supports to make room for the fan. I have seen people just cut and leave them cut open but would be a nice finish to plate over it once its cut out
