R1 Bike Carb Set up Questions

Hi Guys,

Having a few issues getting the carbs to run smoothly.

I can get it to run but I still get fuel leaking out of the overflow tubes and from around the float bowl chambers.

I have increased the float heights to around 9mm and was wondering if this would cause the leaking?

It may also be my fuel pump (off a cbr 900) as when I connect it without the fuel reg it runs better but I get a lot more leaking.  I have ordered a pump from a R1 so hopefully this will sort my issues.

I have set the idle mixtures about 3 turns out and the slide needles in the middle position.

Is there anything else I can do to get it running properly so I can take it to a dude to get tuned properly?  And where would be a good place to go?

Cheers

Matt

    Hi Matt,
Sounds like float levels are too high if fuel runs out of overflows.

I've snipped a page from the R1 service manual which will hopefully help you out re: float levels.

I have a PDF version of the whole service manual if needed.

    Cheers

    Cheers,

I lowered the float and it seems all good now.

Well, good enough to get it somewhere to get it tuned.

    Cheers
