I cant see any reason why it wont fit. The input shaft on the sierra box is the same and a standard 4 speed

    Make it go FASTER!

GDub and I are talking Escort mk2 boxes.... I have a very vaig recollection that some early boxes in Anglia and Cortinas used a slightly smaller input shaft. Escort Mk2 and Sierra (2lt 4cyl) 5sp box are definately the same splines and same clutch therefore (at least the Aussie ones...) Without being certain, it would appear that you may need a mk2 escort 1.6 clutch... you may need to do some Google research...

Just my 2.2c worth including GST....

Ask for a 2 litre Escort MK2 / TE TF Cortina clutch.  The Capri 1600GT box and the MK1 Escort 1 piece box has a different spline.
Also the Sierra 5 speed was used in the 2.8i capri, this would require any Capri V6 clutch plate, but these are wider than a 2 litre one IIRC.  I think some Escort people like to use the 2.8i Capri version as they had a wider bearing or something similar

You need a clutch plate from a Sierra 1600 OHC - buy this from the UK. I think Burtons have them for about 10 quid. Note it is the 1600 Pinto, not a 1600 XFlow.
These are the correct 7.5" diameter with the 23 spline of the 5 speed. I don't think any car here used this combo.
Use your original Cross flow pressure plate if you are keeping the flywheel. Get a 6 bolt if you don't already have one, bit stronger.
The only variable will be the throwout bearing; there are different types in the thickness of them and this will affect the position of the clutch fork and thence the adjustment on the cable. You will need to use a 2L one as I think the original 1600 box nose is smaller.
Use the 2L clutch fork to match the bellhousing.
