Here's my baby, still sorting it out but its getting closer to rego.

UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear. HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall. TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

COS086

Hi All

I thought that I had better add some photos of the Sundowner Van that I owned a few years ago. I am sorry now that I sold it but at the time I couldn't really keep it. I also didn't know then how rare it actually was.

BC ESCORT VAN

MFD: 11/1978
VIN No: CK8PUB68XXXR
ENGINE No: CK8PUB68XXXR
MODEL No: 41789
ENGINE: J
TRANS: V
PAINT: EY426 (ONYX BLACK)
TRIM: A

hi cos086 would you still have this gorgeous sundowner?

could you help me with some questions

im doing a replica escort sundowner from a rust free windowless bc van and i just found some genuine side bubble windows, does anyone know the measurements of where the windows go on the side panels

does anyone own a sundowner with the side windows out atm? i need to know the dynamiter of the actual hole as i dont know what gap i need to add for the rubbers when fitted

and where are they located in the panels, need some measurements from the top plus bottom from the inner lip of the boarder lines plus from the back boarder line  inner lip

cheers

The RS2000 never really appealed to me, the shape of the front end just doesnt work for such a small car IMHO, not to offend owners, just not for me, however, on a van it just looks right. The picture post here by 'nofear609' works, I guess its the length of the panel after the door pillar, and the fact that it doesnt have rear windows, it sort of balances the extra length of the front end.

Here is mine.

Here is one i found on google, best looking MK1 methinks

Getting the Spare tyre in on my 79 panel van took 1 min.  It is still running the original rims. (You can see it at Oakdale Post Office most working days of the week)

And
hey Prowler was your white van in campbelltown in the '90?

It might have been my dads mark 1.  And yes he still has it (I am trying to get him to register it again, every time I change something on my car I get him to take it for a drive and he is reminded of how good an escort is)

This is the greatest "rat rod" type Escort, ever.

Download Attachment: interceptor 1.jpg
42.86 KB

Download Attachment: interceptor 2.jpg
44.58 KB

and here is the interceptor finished, has a small block 284 (i think it was) chev V8 and complete holden drive line in it which included holden commodore suspension, tubbed and roof chopped and holden stile back door,in stead of the barn doors, highly flared

was forsale in NZ about 23 years ago for $6000, i went over to check it out as I really wanted it but the shipping cost were to much to austraila, anyone know if it still around

Vans are cool. .I've got 5 of them! One is a 1954 prefect with a wooden rear load bay .
I like building them more than coups cause there's no back seat or Windows to worry about . ..
One of them is destined to turn into a Ute, cause the roof is nearly dispatched from rust, i may as well..!
It's next in line on the resto list .
