mk1 rack to capri struts

hi im in the process of fitting my front end up and have noticed that when fitting a mk1 rack to capri struts that i need to wind out the rod ends almost to the ends to get the wheels straight ,anyone else had this and have you got a cure for it as it seems unsafe

    You can get rack rod extensions that simply scew onto the rack rod then screw the ball joints back on. There are two threads metric course (mk2) and imperial 1/2 unf (mk1).
    I think smcka does them.
