It'll make it a lot easier to remove the alt.

Don't forget the gearbox crossmember and ancilleries if that's coming out too!

Do you have a factory manual as it will help a lot?

    Good luck,

Probably easiest to remove the engine & gearbox as one complete unit, if they're both coming out of course. If that is the case, then don't forget the gearstick, reverse switch plug  & speedo cable as well.
I'd be removing the radiator too if you haven't already. More room to swing the engine & less chance of your crank pulley making friends with the radiator core!

    Cheers, Jason

last time i dropped mine out the bottom, worked pretty good didn't even remove the bonnet or radiator, but you have to pull more of the front suspension apart

    From Memory -

Remove bonnet, remove radiator, alternator, exhaust, all electrical conections to block inc starter motor, coolant hoses, take out prop shaft, remove speedo cable, remove gear stick, remove reverse light switch, undo gearbox crossmember.

The Gregory's manyual is pretty straight forward to follow.

I would take it out with the g/box attached as it is a lot easier.

Just take your time and go slow as there are always a few things that you end up forgetting.

Don't forget to swear a lot and skin your knuckles.

    Good luck,

    Matt

Jesus, just go and hire one.  The pinto weighs a tonne so I wouldn't risk injuring yourself for the sake of $80 bucks or so.

Another way is to do as JoeyJonsey suggested and jack up the front of the car and just undo the crossmember bolts, front sway bar and strut top bolts and using a jack lower the whole front end in one piece, engine included.

This would be safer then trying to use some sort of jury rigged setup.

    Cheers
