Ok so I should reverse the order, will give it a try. I have always had the carby pipe pointing up and the pipe to fuel tank pointing down so that is not the issue :)

Here is a pic of my set up showing the top hose going to the carby. You need to disconnect the line from the carby itself and crank the engine and see if fuel comes out of the hose. This will tell you if the pump is working or not. Cheers Matt

OK i have disconnected the line for the carby and no fuel. As stated above i am not getting fuel to the fuel filter unless i suck it in. I have cabled the fuel pump properly now with no change. Attached is a photo of the carby setup does it look correct? As fuel is not getting to the fuel filter which is inbetween the fuel tank and the fuel pump doesnt it mean it is the fuel pump or line and rules out the carby? Though i have tried two fuel pumps unless both are faulty? This is starting to get irritating :) As always thanks all for the helpful advice and look forward to future comments. Regards, Yan_83

Were the pumps you used 2nd hand or new? If they were 2nd hand I would probably say that you just lucked out and got another stuffed one. Do you know anyone who owns a car with a running pinto in it? Ask them if you can borrow their pump or bolt yours onto their engine and see what happens

It looks like it's hooked up fine. Did you crank the engine with the fuel line off the carbie? Matt

Thanks for the reply guys, both fuel pumps are second hand and dont really know anyone in Canberra that could lend me a working on. Do you guys know of anywhere i can buy a good quality new fuel pump? I have seen some on ebay but not sure which makes are better. Matt i did crank the engine with the fuel line off the carbie and no fuel came out, it is not even getting to the fuel pump as i do not see any fuel being sucked into the fuel filter which is mounted just before the fuel pump. Will keep at it tomorrow but might look at buying a new fuel pump. Regards, Yan_83

I have heard bad things about the Goss ones, would it be worthwhile getting a better brand?

Not sure to be honest but it probably works better than your one! Hopefully someone else will chime in. Cheers, Matt

Ok guys, Have double checked everything, tested both Fuel Pumps in a container of fuel and appears that one is faulty, the other one has been put back on with fuel primed. The good news is that now i am getting fuel to the carby! The Car now starts while under starter and while the throttle is down but does not idle, will now have to look at carby adjustments but if anyone has any tips please share them :) Thanks, Yan_83

Excellent, just screw in the idle speed screw and that'll get you going. Do you have an owners manual to show you how to set idle mixture etc? Here's a pic of the idle speed screw. Screw it in until the car stays at idle. Matt

Hi Guys, Ok have played around a little with the idle speed and mixture screws, the car still wont idle if i dont crank the starter. If i hold the key in the starter position it seems to run but as soon as i release the key into the normal position the car stalls, this happens even if i hit the throttle. Same if i rev the engine with the throttle as soon as i release the starter the car stalls. Does anyone have any idea's? Maybe an ignition issue instead of fuel mixture? Thanks, Regards, Yan_83

Sounds like an ignition problem. You could try running 12volts direct to the coil from the fuse panel and see if that works. How is it wired up? Post some pics, a picture says a thousand words. Cheers, Matt
