New Heated front windscreens
Hi guys,
Just thought i would share with you the excellent experince i have had dealing with Del from Motorsport Windscreens.
Dealing with Del him self has been a trouble free and plesent recent experience, He has been nothing but extremly helpfuly when i very
first got in contact with him from day one. He has a very broard range on knowledge about his products and doesnt hesitate to
answere any question that you may need to ask him.
His a top bloke doing his best to offer and satisfy your needs.
His products that he has offer are of top quality and has a wide range of screens to suit many makes and models of cars from the old to the new.
These screens allow you to run no heater as it has very small/thin wires that run inbetween the 2 layers of glass and are bearly noticable.
Even with a pure clear lamintaed screen they are a little more noticeable if you really concerntrate when your nose is basically touching the screen, but
when installed and sitting in the drivers seat you dont really notice them.
When i picked up my screen there was also a green and blue laminated screens which where even LESS noticeable to the screens i recieved, But i got clear as it was my personal preference.
He has supplied screens for race car teams including Targa Tasmania competitors who have even one races because of the clear version due to the heater screen.
These screens are not just for race purposes only, they are world wide ADR aproved which make them ideal for any car no matter what the use is.
all in all i highly recomend del as he is a joy to deal with and even for just a friendly chat as he himself has been and still is a car enthusiast for many years,
with alot of knowledge about cars.
Please feel free to pass on the good word to many othercar websites and not just fords as he can offer to all.
Get in contact with him as he helped me out when i was in need and now iam just trying to get the good word out
as his only just a small buisness, and dont hesitate to give him a call and he can give you a full in depth talk on his product.
Thanks Guys
Below is a post that deal posted himself giving you a over view of what he does

Product Description :
Escort MK I & MK II - ( 1969 - 1981 ) Available in Plain/Clear - Clear with Blue sun band - Green tint with Blue sun band
All screens will be supplied in green tinted glass, with a distinctive sun band at the top in Blue ....
Optional Plain - Clear Glass ( For restorations where original appearance is required or class regulation dictate ) with or without Blue sun band …. Is also available with prior notice. Only in orders with a minimum of Two ( 2 ) + This may incur a slight increase of approx $15 – 18 …. To promote sales, Motorsport Windscreens will absorb this charge.
These will need to be specially ordered. Most drivers like to put their own sponsors name over the sun band area blacking out this section anyway.
Although just plain un-tinted glass is available, it may create delays in manufacturing times also.
Due to current manufacturing constraints, I am usually required to purchases in batches of four ( 4 ) as manufacturing procedures dictate these conditions, however if small orders of less than four ( 4 ) are placed a small uplift of the price may be incurred.
All front screens are obviously laminated, and are manufactured with varying thicknesses to what was / is OEM. This is mandated to meet current ADR and World standards.
Screens have hundreds of Micro-Fine TungstenWires in the PVB layer being virtually invisible to the eye ! …. Running either horizontally or vertically in the screen, the exact number depending on model.
Although you can just see these, visibility is considered normal, as these are fitted to many current OEM late model vehicles.
Being Internationally E marked ( EC1 43R ) so legal for all Australian states ( Not that that matters for racing, however would be suitable for registered cars competing Tarmac Racing type events where many vehicles registration may be mandated ) …. I the case of Rally cars and Tarmac Rally events, I have checked with CAMS and the product meets all requirements.
I have engaged a respected company, internationally renowned for quality product and also trading for many years to manufacture these for me. ….They are contracted to a number of OEM too, plus many other manufactures vehicles for their bespoke heated screen supply.
Further .... I requested a number of things from the technical guru within the company to clarify data of the screens i.e. what actual size are the Micro-Fine Tungsten Wires in the PVB layer sandwiched between the two layers of glass - ( 17 - 22 microns depending on model of car I’m told )
Do they go right across the screens to the edges ? This varies and in some cases the element appears to be quite a distance from the lower sides due to A pillar design, as it is apparently not cost effective and also difficult to make a tapered element. …. When in use the heat soon covers this area rapidly, as it tries to dissipate. Just like a saucepan on the stove where the handle heats up quickly from constant heat.
Heat up / defrost time in seconds or minutes in adverse conditions ? Around 2 ½ minutes for full vision if covered in heavy frost / thin ice.
Amps required while in use ? Approx 8 amps ( On a vehicle size of say Lotus Elise / Exige size ) - 10.9 amps on an Evo 10
Is a Relay / Timer required etc ? …. In current road going OEM cars, these screens are obviously controlled by the factory ECU.
No but it is recommended to run through a relay, but the minimum would be a 20 amp fuse and an LED in front of the driver at least.
Correct installation instructions need to be followed ....
This of course will insure longevity of the heating elements avoiding premature failure. This is not so much the wiring in question, but the total sealing of the outside edge to stop water seeping in between the two layers, causing failure of the element voiding warrantee.
Tech spec’s
Data of element positioning etc, and the general specs can be found in the attachment below. Black lines indicate the main wire layout / design, which are placed up either side of the screen. Placement of the heating element connectors may vary depending on model but normally located in lower corners with two connecters each side ( as there are two separate elements, one each side ) …. In some models connectors are placed in the centre of each side, positioned approx half way up each windscreen A pillar. This is due to some screens having one separate heating element where is runs horizontally

A quote from the technical man, as it may be of some interest to some ….
Here’s an example of how the touring /racing car screens are made up. We try to keep the power density to around the 3.5-4.5W/dm2 because any lower and the performance is not so good and any higher and you risk getting a hazy view when in use. This is all dependent on the windscreen in question, size and shape affects it quite a bit. **** May vary slightly from model to model

I am happy to return your deposit or payment in full, but with respect if just a change of mind on your behalf happens, your deposit is non re-fundable .... Sorry
However I must stress that “ I'm given a manufacturing times and can only give my word on someone else’s. “

Warranty :
At this stage I am able to provide a 180 day warranty on the heating elements. This being subject to following the correct installation instructions supplied with any screen purchase. These need to be followed to avoid diss-appointments or premature failure.

Costings :
Supply of one ( 1 ) is for a single screen $545 as our dollar is strong. This will be plus any internal freight ?
This would be normal Motorsport Windscreens retail cost if they were carried in stock ( being imported sea freight ) on date of inquiry. Any fluctuation due to exchange rates would be absorbed until Dec when a review will be carried out of existing stock, including stock currently in transit.
Race Industry Supply Cost
Applicable with same discounted rate as multiple screen purchase
Multiple screen purchase only ?
Being involved ( Hopefully ) in a multi purchase combining in one order of two ( 2 ) as a minimum, as I will buy the extra two to make the min of six ( 6 ) required at any time .... I would like to offer you an introductory come promotional price, as it would pay for me to have screens in different cars early in the piece, especially at the type of events you compete in and the entrants / competitors it attracts ….
Applying a further discount to 5% bringing this to $517.75 ea
Sorry ? this is the absolute best I can do to help this time ….
If proceeding and require a Pro-forma invoice, please advise and I shall email one if need be. Please indicate in which name you would like the invoice made out to ?
Delivery
Can be managed in various ways as I box / crate the screens personally. Screens are boxed using GP 330 expanding foam supporting /covering the screen. This ensures a safe reliable way to pack avoiding disappointments.
Freight through Couriers Please or Saddliers transport if in SA or WA will be an additional $65 - $75 fully insured. VIC & QLD approx $45.
Alternatively I can pack, and you have a courier collect on your behalf.
Insurance is covered with the package when in transit but should the screen be broken a clear picture MUST be taken before removal of the screen.
Screens are packed in a manner to avoid false claims cannot be made J
Having said this, I’m also currently working on a two piece polystyrene cover, which will be placed inside a cardboard box, not diss-similar to how a bottle of wine can be sent through Australia Post, but on a larger scale, as packing with expansion foam is both time consuming and expensive !
Payment
If a model required is not held in stock or specially ordered in a deposit of $200 for each screen is required up front. This is simply a company condition not anything associated with any diss-trust.
Should a purchase is chosen kindly advise your preferred method of payment, as I can accept EFT, Cheque, alt but not preferred PayPal.
Further down the track, should you choose to go a multi order if not at this time, I may well be in a position to offer more suitable discounts. How ever this will depend on the stability of our dollar against the US dollar at time of purchase, but to be honest I can’t see things getting much better in the short term.
