GT / Smiths v Std senders

Picked up a aux smiths temp guage as my std one is stuffed (outta a triumph or something) -
 
Question is the sender for the GT guages say in a MK1/Mk2 Cortina in the 'smiths' ohms range or just a standard ford type?
 
Anyone know of a compatible smiths type sender to suit a 1600 xflow - eg something with smiths guages as standard so i can swap as when i plug it in it reads at a different scale (unuseable).
