rs500 update

Ok guys it has been a bit quiet on this site for a while so I reckon that it is time that I updated you on the RS500. I have changed the suspension and I am now running on brand new Gaz coilovers, fully adjustable for height and damping. I am very happy with them and it is nice to be able to tweak them to how I want them. I am planning for a respray in the future as the car needs it, the interior has now cleaned up very well and I am happy with it. I have fitted an original radio and repaired the electric aerial, but I will need to find a better dash top (if possible) as it is not in a good condition, I have some RS500 cosworth graphics down each side of the car now (thanks to Gav), I will have to put up some pics of them as I think they are great
Not so good is the fact that I got an ECU from the UK and an engine loom, but I have since found out that they programmed it for a standard cosworth with a T3, not an RS500 with a T4. This means the car runs fine up to about 2700 RPM and then misses and backfires until the boost comes in and then it starts to run great again. It is obviously programmed to increase the fuelling at the wrong time. The company in the UK have apologised but they still want a couple of hundred dollars off me to reprogram it, maybe I will just put the Haltech system back in?
I am going over to the UK later this year and I don’t mind helping you guys out whilst I am there. If you want anything (within reason) that you can buy on eBay, but they will not post to Aussie, I will give you an address where to send it to in the UK and I will forward it on to your homes etc. But I cannot handle large bulky items. I am happy to forward on seals and gaskets or anything as I said within reason. Her indoors will not be happy if I spend all my holidays doing car parts, she recons that I already do too much of it for myself whilst I am over there Ha Ha

Must admit I haven't spent a lot of time here lately myself, since finding the RS Owners facebook page.

Glad to hear you're still making progress on the car David. Thanks for the offer with bits in the UK, I may just take you up on that.

    Paul.
