Thought I'd Share - Fuel hose vs Unleaded

In chasing up some braided fuel hose and fitting I was informed of and issue some of you may like to know. (if you don’t already)

Unleaded fuel, especially more recently with higher ethanol content has a habit apparently of permeating rubber fuel hose. This of course causes evaporation through the hose and fuel vapours collecting etc.
However after some time the hose breaks down and i guess - into your carb etc.
So i was told, and then researched and read, that i needed to use Teflon fuel hose and therefore different couplings.
So there it is.
Hope it helps.
Darren.

I think you would be ok with shell 98 v power

The only thing that beats HORSEPOWER is TORQUE.
You can sleep in your car but u cant race your house.

I guess if your happy with that - ok.
For my part I am not going to build my car around only being able to put one type of fuel in it if i can help it.
The last thing i wanted to hear was that my fuel system was going to cost more than it already was - but, as i often say.. if your gonna do it - do it properly.
I am certainly glad i found out before i had purchased the parts.

Teflon tube with braided cover is the only braided hose suitable for unleaded fuel, and is the only choice if you must have the look of braided hose and can justify the cost. Fuel injection hose that is SAE 30R9 rated such as gates MPI hose is also suitable for unleaded fuel and does a very good job in permeation department. If fuel system runs inside the car with a lot of hose such as surge tanks multiple pumps etc. and there is unacceptable level of permeation/fuel smell then go for SAE 30R14 rated hose.
