Wanted Genuine original Gt V6 Capri $$$$ waiting
hi guys and girls, I am looking for genuine and original Gt V6 Capri. Not looking for a major project, no rust buckets or smashed up wreaks. I may consider paying a spotters fee, willing to pay good money for the right car. I would prefer a manual, with no to minimal modifications. I currently have a nice original 1972 1600 Capri, and looking to expand my collection, so any owners can feel safe the car would be going to a good home. So if you have a car you have been thinking on selling, fell free to contact me. Please email me at; I am a genuine buyer, and not interested in any Internet scams. Cash waiting for the right car! Thanks everybody Contact: sionreid3@hotmail.com

Acrylic paint doesnt hold its shine like 2 pac does and being 20 years old it would have been buffed a few times so I would budget for a bare metal respray and some minor rust repair. Other than that it looks quite tidy and matching numbers are always good to have. Have a close look at the back seat. Has it been restored? They tend to split so if original it will probably be quite delicate. If it hasnt been driven for a while I would also budget for a brake overhaul. The boot is misaligned and the bonnet also looks a bit off. Could just be the way it was put back together after painting. I bought mine over 20 years ago from the 2nd owner and even back then it already had patches riveted in and bogged over behind the rear wheels, holes in the floor where the washer foot pump was, and now when I took the engine out I have found severe accident damage and dodgy repair to my front cross member and my chasis is out of alignment. I also found a replacement panel sticker under the carpet in the boot, so I know the right rear quarter has been replaced too. And where they did it the roof corner is too low and full of bog. Needless to say a bare metal strip is my next job. Not trying to scare you but just saying that a 20 year old paint job doesnt mean accident or rust free. 20 years ago that car was already 20 years old. Who knows what lies beneath. But from the photos it looks good. But as you already have a 1600 you probably know where the problem areas are. Since the engine has been recond thats about $6000 you wont have to spend. For that sort of money I would pay an airfare to look in person and run a magnet over it. What it's worth really depends on what you plan to do and what your total budget is. Best of luck.

I have received detailed photos from eBay seller I you send me a pm with your email address I will forward them to you At this stage I don't think I will be bidding on this car I was looking at my 1600 Capri last night, and comparing it with the eBay Capri I would give mine a 8 of 10, and the eBay Capri a 6 out of 10. I am prob a bit biased but and a very hard marker. I am after your guys thoughts of how much it would take to get a nice original Capri owner to part with their car. Remember I am in the market for a good Gt V6 capri, and if you know of any owners thinking of selling their car, send me a message or post the details here. I have always found the good cars are usually sold from word of mouth and not generally advertised.

Personally I prefer to buy cars in average to poor cond because a respray costs the same (maybe a bit more depending on body work reqd) no matter how good or bad the paint coming off is. And I would always want the engine recond to my specs, and then upgrade the interior to my colours. So paying a premium for very good cond car and then restoring everything anyway can be a waste of money. BUT.... with capris there doesnt seem to be much middle ground any more. They are either really bad and too far gone, or the engine is already at 60 tho or they are like this one and getting pricey. That reminds me if you have a crack at this one see if you can find out what bore the engine is at. 60 tho leaves nothing left and is so thin that it can cause over heating. Keen to see the pics, PM sent.

Normally I dont like it when people change the dash but re-colouring and adding that console looks good.

A good price considering it needs rust repairs and a repaint, although the quality is basicaly there. The shannons one it turns on its head the theory that cars must be standard and v6 to fetch the best price.

I think the theory is still sound, but there will obviously be exceptions like the Shannons car. I was quite surprised the Shannons car went that high, but it looked like a very nice car which probably had a fair bit of money spent. It's actually a bit comforting, as the 1600 I'm currently rebuilding owes me more than I thought it would be worth if I had to sell. I was thinking long and hard about bidding on the red ebay V6, and thought it would go a bit higher than it did. It should be an excellent car with a bit of extra attention. Cheers Jamie

The search so far for a V6 gt Did not wish to bid on the red one of eBay after looking closely at the photos. Waiting for owner to email me detailed photos from one currently listed in unique cars, seems like a good car but not a very desirable colour (metallic brown, resprayed in a Peugeot light gold). Contacted owner for one currently listed on gumtree, made a offer but needs a lot of work, but is blue a nicer Colour, I wasn't really looking to undertake a full restoration, been there and done that before. Have just heard about a "true blue" coloured car locally and waiting to inspect next week. Does anybody have a break down on the number of capris by their colour? Does anybody know of any other V6 capris on the market, if so pm me Regards Sion
