Top spring cup damage

It's been a common problem with all the struts I've pulled apart. The top spring cup is damaged where the shaft passes through it.  The straight sides get reamed out making it round so the shaft doesn't locate. I was thinking of taking the cups to a fabricator to get some metal put back into the holes, then carefully file them into shape.  Any other suggestions?

Matt they're standard springs. I don't think there's aftermarket ones available.
