no idea but the casting nos. on my 205 2l block are
                                             C8S1A
                                               205                                                                                                                 85HM6015BB
maybe the first No. is the year mine was suppose to have come out of a MK3 Capri.

2222 is the bore gradings as machined by the factory. This is the number near the dizzy.

70HM6015BA is the block casting number. YEAR designed 1970, 122 CI, LITRE 2.0, BORE 3.57. 6015 is an engine part number.

The stamped number above the casting number and below the exhaust port as shown in Matts photo is the official engine number that you list on the rego and helps to decode the car the engine was originally installed into.

This sort of engine is fitted to 1970 model TC cortinas. That'd be a good place to tell them you sourced the engine from.

My Fully Engineered Escort has an Engine No starting with SLO... which Ford Australia had no record of when I checked through them years ago.  So my Engineer passed it as it was of "unknown" origin with no further questions asked :) .... I have since learnt that it could be a Malaysian block ???

Just my 2.2c worth including GST....

You can print out that unique cars description of the TC cortina. Point to the 70 in the block casting number and see how you go.

Or else you can list the first six characters of the engine number on here and we can tell you the car the engine was first installed in.

    Ok. Lets assume that it's

    XXXXRM13989

That gives a build date of November 1975. That's a good thing as the engine is pre adr27a and you'll be able to run sidedraft webers.

All you need now is the first four characters of the engine number for rego purposes and you're done.

    Hallo
i am Guy , i live in Belgium and owner of a Pilgrim Bulldog MK 2 Roadster.
this car is bild with donorcar Ford Taunus or Ford Cortina
the engine is a 1600 Pinto or OHC engine
but i dont know if the engine is for lead or unleaded.

the engine block number is  stamped and i have seen lot of numbers on other Pinto's but this one is started with a star stamped in the block, then the normal code and at the end again a star stamped
    at the end
on the cilinderhead i see a mark: X
Normal its always: N, NN,M,MM, L,LL for unloaded  but on this is just a X

    Can someone help me out?
Found this forum, and tread via Google

    thx
    from Belgium
