4x4 Propshaft help needed
Gentlemen,
I have an early 4x4 two piece propshaft. The hexagonal thick donut type.
It is seized at the splines. I think the splines are twisted as penetrine and a hammer will not budge it.
Could anyone provide the length of the male spline measured from the centre of the yolk or from the
forward face of the centre bearing to the end of the spline. This will allow me to determine where the
end of the spline is in the rear of the forward shaft. I can then cut the forward shaft and attempt to separate the two.
I could drill small holes in the forward shaft, however am hoping to fast track that one.
I don't wish to buy another shaft until I know what is going on with this one.
I cannot find a serviceable early thick donut anywhere. So am looking at a mod kit from the UK, which requires shortening the front shaft. I may need another 4x4 shaft(s), yet to be determined.
I have spoken to two driveline experts and they are 'wary' of the donut. I am not prepared to eliminate the donut as it is there for a reason.
In the meantime guys, any assistance will be appreciated.
For those wondering what this driveline is from, it is the ex Mark Keen ex Kevin Hinchcliff 3 door with 4x4 running gear.
Regards, Al
