Hey. I'm doing one now. I've got a 2.3 Ecoboost from a Mustang. Slow progress but hopefully running late this year.

There's progress pics @thatfordescortguy on instagram

Cheers

Nice work 👍. I almost came across one but ended being a mps 2.3 duratec... Nah... But am in the hunt for a focus ST225 5cyl motor for a escort or the Prefect van one day, I'll even trade a zetec on one lol

digging up an old thread to see in there's been any more progress on the Ecoboost install.

Was the  overall height an issue (into an escort)?

Haha, prolly became a chore and ended in the skip !
I'm still lightly hunting for that 5cyl Focus (Mondeo is the same) 2.5L ST motor now that the milage is creeping up the price is slowly dropping . Almost caught one for $100 but the guy wouldn't crate it for shipping ... Some people...

^^ Thats what I was thinking Marty, motors are more likley to have done kms now which doesnt appeal as much.
Theres an extra thin chance I have found a very low km circa 2013 Ecotec engine, thus the interest in this thread again for me.
I'm just waiting to see if it may eventuate. (please Santa)

Coming from a different angle then, if you had a MK2 rolling chassis, and you wanted to repower it just as a reliable drivable weekender, what would you ideally be on the lookout for? And which gearbox?
^^ Go the 5 cylinder Focus?
They will all need engineering naturally, but some may be easier than others?

Few popping up on turbosport, not that you get much info from that thread. It does look fair average in the bay tho.

Someone claims that the fiesta 1.0L 3cyl turbo has the same belhousing pattern as Escorts / Zetec etc. This is something I'd like to have a go at.

On a side line I'm going to be installing a Duratec 2.3 n/a for now (it will grow a turbo later on) into my 95 Ford Courier 4x4 ute , might start a thread on this if I get some interest . I was contemplating fitting a Pajero/magna v6 but I wanted something light and easy to tune.

second that Robbie, id be interested also.
Another thread to follow would do us good Marty.

And you are right about the look of the Ecotec too, I'm sure it goes well, but its one only a mother could love.
I still want to do it though. It does look pretty tall, 1/2 way up the heater bubble, and just fits under the tower brace?

Maybe a custom cam cover, and inlet update would go far.

Blehh, that Ecoboost top looks yiddish lol. Looks like a diesel motor in a way except the coil packs.

Ok, Deano , Robbie , I am going to do this Duratec swap but the thread might last a while... Hope not as long as Paul Dunstan's Zetec epic length lol. I recently just got the ute registered here in SA as it was from WA , I was fearing a full roadworthy but it came good 😁. I'm going to be entering unknown territory with this build/mod , which can be fun..

You have to start somewhere right?

Bought this lot around a year ago between lockdowns in New Zealand. The car when finished will be a Bubble arched MK1 Escort with a 2012 2.0 Ecoboost running around 380hp/400nm (goal) Will start with the stock turbo to start with and upgrade when the gremlins are settled.
Rear axel is also being upgraded to handle the low end torque these engine put out.

Nice one HNZ!

So 2012, I'm still getting my head around when the engine models changed over.
Is about 2010 the last sort of year we had duratec's in Focus's and Mondeos?
Then it went to Ecoboost?

HNZ, did you buy a complete wreck, in order to get sensors/loom etc, or just engine and box?
The mark 1 looks like a solid base.

Marty you have a build challenge from across the ditch.
