Hot 1300...

Has anyone out there done, or seen some hot 1300's in mk1 escorts...?

Just wondering what kind of power they are capable of getting (without going crazy expensive and keeping it drivable) and how they've done them with carbs and internals.
I've heard of 1380's pulling about 125bhp...which is pretty fun....

Just thinking of what to do next!
A

Biggest problem with the 1300 is rod/piston combo. By Ford saving money using the same piston blanks as 1600 they hurt the rod to stroke ratio.

I do a H-beam steel long rod and CP piston for them.

Because the stroke is so short the cranks are fine. Flywheel and clutch require the same treatment as 1600. Lightened cast flywheel is fine and use an uprated clutch.

Small displacement Fords don't like high lift cams or big valves unless you intend use silly RPM.

    Twin 40's are fine.

Pipes should be choosen to match cam.

The output your talking is no problem, however torque will always be down with short stroke engines.

Happy to help if you need anything.

    Great info.  Thanks for that.
You don't see many 1300GT's around, and it would be something different and interesting to have a go at.
    Cheers,
    Alex
