Redrilling 4 stud to 5 stud?????

Hey guys,just wanted to know if anyone has gotten there front escort standard 4 stud hubs plug welded and redrilled to either a ford 5 stud pattern or other pattern.If so how did it go,worked out well???Also where could i get this done and roughly what sort of coin would i be looking at?cheers

    I had 5 stud converted to 4 and depending on what PCD's 1 or 2 holes coincide. Also depending on the material you wouldnt want to weld  it as it becomes brittle and the last thing you want is brittle hubs. my engineer used interference fit machined plugs and used heat etc to insert them then machined the whole lot square and true before redrilling to suit. this was on hilux axles so no turning loads. i wouldnt want to do it to an old escort hub. best get new ones machined or order some alloy ones undrilled.

    I dont think you can redrill the alloy ones due to the material behind the flange, probably best to do as Justin said and plug the original holes then redrill. I redrilled a set of capri hubs to 5x114.3 and one hole overlaped, I didnt need to fill it as the stud still fitted securely. The other option is to get a set of hubs from hoppers stoppers or similar.
