Weber 48IDF's brand new F/S
Guys I have a brand new pair of Weber 48IDF's on eBay if anyone is interested in them. I bought them to replace by 44's but am now going to put injection on the MK1 instead. http://www.ebay.com.au/it...mp;hash=item415fd5d914

Starting point, 38mm choke (if its the same spec as Gdubs), 155 main, 185 air, 50F9 idle, F2 tubes, 45 pump jets with 0 bleeds. Your idle jet is too rich which may foul plugs, and the progression side of the idle jet is too lean (probably causing the popping at part throttle) This is all providing the engine is the same spec as Gdubs, Cheers Woz

The standard pump will be keeping up at idle anyway more than likely, so unless there is something majorly wrong with your standard pump it shouldnt make any difference. Are the carbs balanced correctly? Are the float levels correct? If the engine is the same spec as GDUB's the jetting I listed will be about right for 45mm sidedrafts. What carbs are they (eg: 45dcoe?? next numbers). The correct way to tune a weber is to get your main, air and emulsion right on the dyno at WOT, then jet the rest around that. Cheers Woz

mario woz there 45 dcoe 152 engine spec are 11.1 comp you know what cam im using. is gdub using same camshaft. and engine only idles good around 1200 to 1500 rpm does that seem right. idle should be around 1200ish rpm. The jetting in Gdub's is different because the downdrafts get jetted differently. Peterr has exactly the same spec as Gdub, another one of my engines, only fitted with 45DCOE13's and that is the jetting I started with on his engine with a 38mm cnc flowed choke. Even though your cam and comp are roughly the same, things like cylinder head flow have a dramatic effect on jetting. The other thing is that I'm 99% sure the progression holes on the DCOE152's are different to the 13's, so that will also have an effect on the jetting, in particular the idle's which may be why you're having problems. As I said in my precious post, the way to tune a weber is to get the main, air and emulsion correct on a dyno, then the rest of the jetting gets done around that, and obviously the balance of the carbs and the float height is also most important. It is also important you use quality emulsions and jets, not the crap coming out of who knows where. The finish on some of the cheap emulsion tubes and jets is rubbish, and they don't work properly. I spent over an hour trying to work out a fault on the dyno with some spanish made webers only to find dags in the emulsion tubes. Fitted genuine weber ones, problem gone and the others binned (tried cleaning them, still not right). So the first thing you need to do is fit your new fuel pump, check the float levels and balance, dyno it and jet your main jet pack correct, then start playing around with your other jetting to make it nice down low and at part throttle. The choke/venturi size you need should be decided on how much power it makes The pump you need to use is a carter unit, with no reg. this one http://www.ebay.com.au/it...mp;hash=item3f1492bb1d Cheers Woz

152's are very different in the progressions to 13's and are really designed for twin cam type engines with the spark plug in the centre rather than an older design engine like a Pinto. You can get them to work but they will be quite different to what would be done with DCOE-9 or DCOE-13's

woz with jet sizes you said 0 bleeds meaning pump exhaust valve blocked off. is it worth while changing from f16 to f2 emulsion tube or just keep the f16

by bleeds I mean the jet in the bottom of the float bowl. Both Gdub and Peterr's engine liked the F2 emulsion tubes. cheers, Woz
