XB Falcon Master Cylinder

Hey guys,

I have done a brake upgrade on my mk2 using RX7 calipers on the front and ED Falcon on the rear, and now i have pressure problems as i do not have enough rear line pressure to move the pistons adiquately, i did some ringing around and found that it is suggested to run an XB falcon master as they run a 1inch bore, so now my question is has anyone done this before and if you some information would be helpful due to the XB master having 4 outlets and the escort only having 3 etc.

    Hi Matty,

Obviously, the best option for you would be to fit a pedal box so you can fine tune the braking to a bias that suits your driving style and the calipers you are using.

I am not sure about the falcon master cylindern but I have a catalogue that has every master cylinder by make so you can go through and work out what other cars M/C's you can use that have the 1" bore size.

Send me your email address and I'll shoot it off to you.  I tried posting it on here but it didn't work.

    Cheers

What size bore are the ED callipers and what size rotor?
If the bias is incorrect then altering the MC won't fix it.

mat what i have is a xb m/c bolted straight to the firewall and then ran brake lines to rear boot and fitted two brake boosters one for the front disc and one for the rear, the boosters run different pressures i think front was 1200psi and rear was 900psi and i dont have any problems except hitting my head on the windscreen

    302esky,

You got any pics?  Sounds like an interesting setup.

Rally Design have a .pdf file that discusses brakes, including sizing master cylinders, which you will find here:

    www.rallydesign.co.uk/pdf/designing_4_pot_brakes.pdf

See the sidebar on Page 1.

Sorry, the Rally Design file isn't the one I thought it was.  I'll try to find the correct one and provide an update.

Here's some information on calculating various braking parameters.

Might be a idea to fit a bias tap to the rear brakes, they cost about $60 and reduce from 100% down to 30%, Wilwood, Tilton etc

    Hi Matty,

I am running Focus calipers for my rear brakes and have a M/C from a Mazda 626. It's a 1" bore but has only 2 outlets, I will have to use a T junction for the other connection.  Mounting holes only had to be taken out slightly for it to bolt straight on.

    Cheers,
