Are the Disc diameter/thickness the same. That kit does look rather tidy, how do they compare side to side etc?

I think 7mm smaller in diameter and 1mm smaller in thickness than the AP’s. Seem good so far, all bolted up well as far as I can see but will reserve full judgement until they are used in anger. 


Hard to go past AP’s though, especially given you are running 15’s and can fit dust sealed ones.  

This sort of thing can never happen two minutes from home, always at a set of lights when you are at the front or single lane road with no emergency lane. Both of which happened. 


Managed to get her started again on full choke so was sure it was a fuel starvation issue all the while sitting there thinking “but I just rebuilt the carb“ ”did I leave something out?” At this point she died again and I overheated the starter solenoid trying to start her again, one problem always leads to another if you let it! Going again and was just rounding the corner with a garage and she died again. 


Started having a look and could see no fuel coming out of the accelerator jet when pumping the throttle. Checked the fuel filter and seemed to be fuel (opaque filter so just a darker shade could be seen and a bit of movement when I shook it. But something said it wasn’t quite right checked again as the bloke from the garage bought his light over and sure enough full of slug. 


Good lad that he is he gave me a new filter, which got me home but it seems the tank I cleaned recently perhaps isn’t so clean and has continued to rust given it was not filled. Bit of a mistake from me, lesson learned and hopefully no lasting damage. Not a pro but having a go so will hopefully do better in the future! 


pics are from the second filter that old mate gave me, first one was so clogged you could hardly blow the stuff out. Also clear filters are the way to go, would have picked it up instantly in the clear filter but with the opaque one it all looks the same!

The car sat for several years and I drained the tank and actually soaked it in a mixture of hydrochloric acid and water and It looked ok from the little I can see in through the sender hole and the fill hole. Clearly though there was still a fair bit of rust and gunk in the tank and I think the agitation driving cause a lot to come loose. I think the biggest culprit was the valve saver stuff. I like you have had trouble with 98 before and I heard a rumour that it is actually an octane booster not genuine 98 octane but I’m sure someone can confirm or deny. Anyway, after having trouble with 98 in an old MG I raced I have only ever used 95 and really that’s probably too good for the old girl given I don’t have that high a compression ratio. 


Going to try a second cleaning attempt and if that fails, it will probably be a new tank for me! Not that attached to the old drop tank so if it causes too much grief and won’t come clean it can go.

Good excuse for an alloy tank? i love the drop tank tho, seeing it at the back is awesome

Very Good excuse for one, but I do like the tank as it is a bit different to what every man and his dog do now, fitting an alloy in boot tank. Eventually I will cave and buy one though I think.
