blue burner resurrection.

hi there guys. i'm the proud owner of a '75 mk2 2 door. it used to be my daily and has seen drag action at willowbank, hidden valley and stanthorpe. it presently has a turbo pinto and C4. the plan is to whip this out and fit a ca18 and celica 5 speed to it. i'm using a microtech LT8 i found cheap to run it all. here's a few pics of my progress so far.

in the middle of modding the nissan loom to connect it to the microleb.

wiring pretty much done. i plan on using a delco air temp sensor. (this was done previously by the air flow meter.)
the plan is to machine an adaptor to go between the celica front bearing retainer and ca auto bellhousing, then mod it to take an escort clutch fork to simplify the clutch stuff.

machining the outside of the adaptor. had to make a tool to get to it as i have a small lathe.

i also ran the engine on the floor the other day. it was very exciting !

the main reason i've been adapting the celica 'box is for a better shifter position. is this that big of a drama ?the stick will come out pretty much where the original did. for the guys who have ca/sr engines, how much of a pain is having the shifter back a bit ? does it foul the handbrake ? using the nissan box will make for an easier time buying a heavy duty clutch. the nissan box i have here looks to be from a series 3 bluebird.

after a bit of interdweebs research, it seems the bluebird gearbox i have won't handle much power or rough treatment. back to the celica idea. if i bust the celica box, it will hopefully be relatively easy to put in a supra box.

well, it's been a while. after some internets trawling, i've found a combination of parts which leaves me with a ca18 compatible gearbox which has a stick position fairly close to an escort. it is from an early skyline apparently.

so i'm into this again. after another change of tack. (lol!) the plan is still to use a celica 5 speed, but with an efi pinto donk on the front. the ca will go onto the c4 and into another car.  this shell also has some bits of rust in the usual places. i've got another shell with enough usable bits i think. the manifold and adaptor is getting closer. i have all the gear out of a camira to connect delco efi up to it. got onto hardy spicer the other day and the relevant tailshaft yoke was much cheaper than i thought. just got to buy a bellhousing now and the rest i can make or modify with any luck. i'll post up some pics as it progresses.
