Sierra 5 speed into mk1

High all got a 1600 to replace the wheezy 1300 to go in my mk1, and have 5 speed to go in it too.
As the cars a manual will the 5 speed fit in the standard tunnel, dont really want to chop tunnel as its a tidy car ?
Anyone done this conversion in standard tunnel?

It will go straight in except for minor things like g/box mount to be modded, speedo cable from a TC/TF 4cyl Cortina and cutting the gearstick hole about 3in further back, thats about it..

Its hard to say as Escort has 3 or 4 different g/box mounts, mk1, late mk1, mk1 auto, mk2 / auto.
Best to bolt it to the motor and check how the mount sits, then work out what needs doing. ie mk1 early auto mount with 5spd is a 15mm spacer and re-drill mounting holes forward approx 20mm.
Regarding the propshaft, if yours is a late (74+) its fine or source a mk2 1600 single piece.

Sorry to piggyback off someone else's thread, but when converting from a 4spd standard box to a 5spd Sierra box, do you use the same bellhousing from the 4spd?
